surprise shut down
I was driving my 1750 spider w/webers for a short spin to see if my cleaning job on the carbs was noticable. The car starts quickly and idles just as it should. The ignition timing is right on, dwell is correct. I have a new battery and coil, cap, points and condenser.
The car does not accelerate without stuttering but tends to smooth out after warming up. Tonight, power to the drivetrain shut down with no reaction from the starter or fuel pump. The headlights still worked fine. After checking all connections and about 5 minutes, i jumped started the car on the first turn.
What's going on?
I thought my rough accel was points or a bad condenser but neither would cause this shut down. Plugs are new and look good, plug wires are high quality with little use but are 6 years old.
I appreciate your suggestions.
Thank you.
