Starter problems 1979 Spider
I would appreciate some suggestions. My starter tries but sounds like I have a low battery. I can try sometimes up to eight times and then all of a suddent the starter will turn the way it is supposed to and start the engine. The starter sounds fine when it gets the power. Sometimes I can hold the ignition switch over to start and it will try a couple of times and then spin like it should and start. There is 12V across the big wire on the starter. The battery is in the trunk and there is a good ground between the battery and the engine. The battery is new and the starter appears to have been changed quite recently. Yesterday I cleaned the negative battery lead connection to the frame and the battery. Yesterday everytime I tried the starter it worked perfectly. Today it is back to its old tricks. The car always starts but sometimes it takes up to eight tries to get the starter to turn.
Thanks
