electrical prob
Hi my first post and Im glad I found this forum.
Bear with me and i`ll explain the problem.
94 spider
had it 3 months and only rarely use it. Starts fine for a while then suddenly wont start. I changed the battery the first day.
If I jump start it goes right away again and runs fine for a while. When in its non starting mode the engine doesnt turn over just lights on the dash and when key turned nothing. Rocked it in 4th and tapped starter with a hammer nothing jumped it and fine again.
all readings over battery fine and ran cable to starter all fine.
There was a drain on the original battery but thought i fixed it when drain disappeared after unhooking hardtop electric connection.
This time when it didnt start I found the battery was flat even though all readings from alternator are fine. (Dud battery?)
Had a look today at immobilizer that was fitted in 1999
found wires that were cut into the ignition cable near coil a pretty poor job and redid the wire solder connection.
when playing with the immobilizer wires found that car didnt start but this time was firing but not starting unlioke the original problem (hope due to a fully charged battery)
but think this may not be problem as when jumped started right away and logic says that an immobilizer cant be overriden by jumping otherwise useless.
Coil alternator and starter all seem working and readings fine.
Ignition switch can cause this problem?
ps any wiring diagras for this car available
Thanks for all help and suggestions, sorryso long winded but going nuts.
