General Headlight Relay questions
I have a 73 Spider and finally got the headlight/turn signal switch in good working order. I'd like to keep it that way and install some relays.
Does anyone have some suggestions/pics on the type of relay to use and where to mount them?
thanks,
Andrew

My suggestion is to go to www.danielsternlighting.com and click "Tech" on the left side, which will then give you an option to click on an excellent article on relays. The rest of his site is full of more info than you'll ever really want to know about automotive lighting, too, and he has been forthcoming in the past with even more info when asked questions. (It's nice to see info based on facts rather than anecdotal evidence.) I have no connection with Stern other than as a satisfied customer. (I bought a set of Cibie headlights (made an incredible difference) and relays (not yet installed; hopefully soon.).)

thanks, that's a very helpful site. Did you get one of the relay kits?

I did, but it's not installed yet, partly because I want to rewire the headlight sockets so the ground goes back to the battery rather than just a mounting screw on the headlight buckets (and I don't have the headlight buckets I eventually want to end up with). The kit comes with two relay sockets, two Hella relays, two headlight sockets, two fuseholders with fuses, and all the terminal connectors, but no wire (as he explains), since you can generally get that stuff locally and everyone's needs will be different. Everything looks top quality as far as I can tell.

There's also a DIY article on headlight relays from Alfa Owners of New England member Brian Shorey here:

This is worth a read. Good wiring diagrams, a couple of options. I attended this tech session and doing this mod has been on my to-do list for the GTV now for the past few years.

I just recieved the stern kit for my 68 spider and have been looking for an alfa specific diagram--just wondered if in your research you've found an article with diagram and photos of the installation---
