I use their products, although not exclusively... I find that while they do not make anything themselves, what they advertise really does work as claimed. It seems to me like they have done the research for themselves. IOTW, they may have actually tried different products, and sell only what works. In any event, I feel that while their stuff looks more expensive, it actually saves me from doing my own trial and error...

Best regards,

I've purchased a number of Griot's products over the years with mostly positive results. I've tried their Best of Show wax, their detailing spray, and their clay bar system. They are good products, however I don't find their detail spray any better than MeGuiar's detail spray or Eagle One's Wipe & Shine. Their Best of Show wax was good, but again not any better than Meguiar's Next Tech or Zymol. I tried thier window cleaner once and it's been the only product I wouldn't consider using again - I'll stick with Stoner's Invisible Glass.
I bought Griot's retractable water hose/reel. It was fairly expensive but is top quality and has worked problem free for the last 8 years. They have a number of products that are fairly unique and that one can't easily find eslewhere - that seems to be their strength. So overall: good quality (but expensive) products.

Hi guys. Thought I would chime in here for some clarity...

Griot’s Garage does formulate, mix and bottle the vast majority of our Car Care products in our manufacturing facility in Plainfield, Indiana. The few items we do not mix are made exclusively for us, and to our strict recipes and specifications.

We appreciate those of you who use our Car Care products, and strive to be responsive to customer feedback... so please keep it coming.

Thanks for your business!

I'll chime in with my two cents here. I've used a lot of different products - Meguiars, Mothers, Zymol, Griot's Garage, 100 Grand, Turtle Wax etc. For me personally, I like Griot's better than the others. Some experiences include: Their tire and rubber dressing really brought the life back to the plastics on my car exterior; Their polishes and waxes are easy on older or delicate finishes; Their engine cleaner and detailer won't corrode aluminum like Simple Green can (although I use Simple Green a LOT and love it); Their Speed Shine is a good quick cleaner. Prior to Speed Shine I used HondaBrite on my motorcycle and car but that comes in a spray can - and gets expensive buying can after can.

I'll also echo they have cleaning and garage tools that often you can't find anywhere else and their product quality is very high. Like anything, you should shop around and use what you like and what fits your budget. I don't always buy from Griots - I got my oil absorbent mat from International Auto as it was cheaper. I do like to use Mother's wax on one of my cars. Really, it boils down to what you like and what works for you. Coke or Pepsi; Chevy or Ford; Smoking or Non-Smoking. Personally, I've never had a problem with Griot's products and will continue to buy them.

Over the years I have used many products, but now Griot's is all I use and have for about 4 years. Inside and outside on the Spider, Audi, and Saab. I also have the orbital machine.

Exceptions: Porsche top cleaner and Mother's Aluminum Polish for the trim. And some cheap tire dressing for the winter rubber floor mats in the Audi and Saab.

Welcome to the BB, Mike!

Good to see a well known vendor chime in, and the clarification is well noted.

I been a customer for many years and find you get what you pay for. The vast majority of my purchases I have been very pleased with. The garage light on a reel still works after 10 yrs of use! The Speed Shine is a great product , I've used for many years.

My only lament is that their tool selection has decreased over the years.
Specifically, FACOM tools are not featured as much in their catalogue. I've found other sources of purchasing their tools.

Thanks for the welcoming words. I would encourage anyone who has a story about using our stuff to submit a couple pictures and a short write-up for our Testimonials section. Heck, it might even end up in the handbook! We also just started a Garage Ideas section along the same lines.

I asked management if I could offer the Alfa BB a discount as a "thank you" for your feedback. We don't do a lot of this, but here's a special code for 15% off any order (no minimum purchase!), now through December 27. Feel free to pass this around to friends. Just enter this at checkout: 15DCLB

Thanks again, and...

Same here. It has taken a lot of abuse, it's no longer yellow though--covered in oil and grease. Hey it comes with owning Italian cars...

I've always wanted to try the detailing products. Perhaps now I will that I've read some of the above comments.

What a bummer, I just placed an order over the weekend...

I have been using Griot's products almost exclusively for over 10 years and have always been satisfied. I have won two National AROC concours and numerous other regional and local shows using them. Although they seem expensive upfront, I have found that with most of these products "a little goes a long way". I especially like the Interior Cleaner, the Leather Care, the Undercarriage Spray, the Plastic Polish, and the Vinyl and Rubber Dressing. A previous poster did not like the Window Cleaner, but I have found that it definitely works better than a product like Windex. I agree that the Stoner Invisible Glass is a fine product. I also think that their orbital buffing pads work very well.

The only product of theirs that I have not been that thrilled with is their paint cleaning clay. It seems to be too sticky and leaves gooey residue behind. I have tried all different techniques with it, using more and less lubrication and get the same effect. This is on paint that is well maintained too. I even bought a second jar just in case there was something wrong with the first one, and the same thing happened.

Hi Arno. Thanks for the positive feedback! Always great to hear success stories.

That's not something we usually hear about the Paint Cleaning Clay... let's see if we can figure out a solution. What's your "pre-clay" routine? What product are you using to lubricate the clay? How much of it are you using at one time?

I might add that Griots provides great support to local car clubs, such as AROO's recent auction to support our upcoming events and to the upcoming 2009 convention as well. While I'm impressed by their support of the hobby and club events, the products are super too!

I bought some cleaning clay from Griots a couple of years ago, and it has changed my life.

Seriously, the stuff is amazing. And I mis-use it:

- I haven't bought fresh clay, I just keep using the old stuff.
- I just use water as my lubricant, instead of the recommended "Speed Shine". After washing and rinsing the car, I go at it with the clay. Then rinse again.

Clay residue hasn't been a problem for me. Admittedly, my standards probably aren't as high as Arno's.

Arno: I can't imagine what is happening to you. Maybe it's just so hot there in Arizona that the clay is melting. Have you tried other brands of clay (Mothers, etc), and not had the same problem with residue?
