Hi guys,
For some reason or another, I have not been notified of these posting (I have NOT unsubscribed).
In regards to the entry fee for the Events, this is where we stand.
Concours: All registered members will get a free ticket stub for entering the Concours park. Since Cantigny is a public park, any non-member can enter by paying their own way in. Something like $7
Autobahn Track Event: It is obvious that many things that happen behind the scenes are sometimes difficult to explain. We know more today than I knew months ago. I have been known to say more than I should and should not have spoken too soon.
The AROC Convention is obviously open to all members. For members to participate, they must first pay for "Registration". Once a member has registered, he or she and all family members listed become participants of the event. My quote to Mark (fetta 78) at the time was that "we would not advertise to the general public”.
Those of you that have already registered for the Convention need to simply forward us a list of your family members / guests that will be attending the Track Event. At registration, we will provide you with additional stubs. To answer your question Mark, just ask us for an additional entry stub for your sister at registration.
In order to discourage “free-loaders”, our Board decided to ask all participants and their guest to register. I’m not even going to get into the insurance issues.
The intention is to send a message to the other 100 + local Alfisti that in order to participate in an event of this caliber, they should become members and register. BTW, we have added at least 15 members to join AROC.
In regards to Elio’s post: Elio, are you saying that you have a group of people driving in from Canada to see the Track event and would consider not coming if they needed to pay the fee? I don’t understand all the fuss. If you are a registered member, you get in without paying any additional fees, you can bring guests and you will be documented as participants in an event sponsored by AROC. Autobahn is a private country club, an individual is considered affiliated to the event once they register with the event.

I'm not Elio, but I will be traveling with him. What do you mean by Registered Member? Club member or Registered convention attendee?
Thanks....

Thanks for the clarification Carm. That's the rub, we are only going down for the Thursday, we aren't registering for the convention, so you are saying that to watch the track event, we need to register for the convention, and somehow pick up the passes, even though we won't be attending the convention?

Ken,
No reason for a "rub". If paying $50 is a major problem after driving dowm from Canada, I will be happy to accomodate you as my guests, forward me your info. on a PM and I'll personally pay the entry fee for you. Please realize that if the only $ we collected was a $7 fee per group in a car (2 in a GTV ) we would need approx. 1,825 tickets to break even.
Add to this the fact that a few Alfisti put up personal money for Alfa racers to have fun in the Enduro race with only 60 % of them sending us money after they registered and I'll throw in a "don't cry to me Argentina" CD to top it all off. BTW: I have never been to a vintage event where tickets didn't cost at least $75.
We have done our best, it's an impossible task to accomodate all. Hope you guys come.

Carm,
I'm not looking for special treatment, just trying to make sure I understand the situation. At least we found out now and didn't drive for 10 hours and find out we couldn't get in Since we are going to be driving for 20 hours from very early Thursday morning through some time Friday when I get home, the GTV stays home this trip
