Pierburg Fuel Supply Pump with Spica FI.

Greetings.

I am installing a Pierburg fuel supply pump from Centerline into my '77 Spider, replacing what I believe is the original pump. The Spica pump is a rebuilt and "breathed on" unit from Wes Ingram.

Question: Will this new Pierburg pump require a restriction in the fuel return line as described in Roadtrip's excellent Fuel Supply manual for other brands of replacement pumps?

To know for sure, rig up an inexpensive fuel pressure tester with a $10 direct read fuel pressure gauge from the auto parts store and a "T" fitting. Technically, if the fuel low pressure light is off (and does not come on at all during engine operation), then the pressure is over 7 psi and ok. I like to see more like 10-15 psi, however.
