Question question on spica mian ( front) filter

can you bypass it, if you have a bosch f.i. filter in the rear of the car.. this a question for my freinds 71 spider.. he doe's not like the site of the front filter, the palstic is spilt along the side( all the spica cars i have seen look like that) so do i really need it?thanks

palstic? mine is metal..the back filter is corse. The front is fine and it also filters out rust and bits of rubber that come from the old lines to the filter.

If you plan on a carb conversion in the near future, yes, you can do without it. If not, and the main filter is removed, plan on giving Wes Ingram a call when the Spica pump goes bad. Not to mention that the fuel pressure bypass valve and the low fuel pressure switch are located in/on the housing.

The plastic cover serves as a heatshield of sorts for the main filter. Many have been discarded with no (apparent) effect.
