Identify Pump

I recently acquired a 2L engine and tranny from a junk 75 spider. I am planning to rebuild it for my 72 GTV. In particular, what is the function of the spring loaded lever arm on the side of the pump. My 72 GTV Spica does not have this feature. Also, is there any other considerations I should be aware, of for the rebuild, compared to my current 72 engine and tranny. Thanks in advance.

The lever's purpose is to provide super enrichment (to aid starting) during cranking at sub-zero temperatures. It was fitted at customers request to all Spica models through December 1979 EXCEPT those with catalytic converters.

Jim:

Thank you for the information. Since I live in New England I may keep this option. The pump is coming off and being sent out to Wes for a rebuild. I will be tearing down the engine and transmission for a complete rebuild. In the mean time I can continue to drive my GTV with the old engine and do the swap later this summer.

Cheers,

Frank
