Need Guide for Tuning Dell'Ortos

Does anyone know of a good guide for tuning these guys? I tried to tune them from what I know, but I want to do a better job. Dont worry, I'm not one of those people who can never stop playing with the carbs. All I want is a good guide for the future.

Thanks,

Go to
http://www.racecar.co.uk/dellorto/
Then select car carburettors
Then scroll down to the picture of the DHLA and Click.

Great place to order parts and fast shippers!

As I looked closer at these instructions offered above, is there another way to tune them without using a manometer like there is for webers? I used to have one of those, but who knows where it is now.

thanks,

A good synchrometer will do (search on eBay for "carb* sync*").

The advantage of the described 4-column manometer is that it allows you to compare the readings of the carbs without having to move the measuing tool around.

If adjusting the sync and idle mixture is the same for Dellortos as it is for Webers, there's a procedure in this thread that requires only a screwdriver and your ears.

Papajam, I think it's a little more complicated on Dell's. Given that they're derived from Weber, they're similar, but the screws are in diff. places. I think there's alot more to mess with. I got them running alright now, but I obviously want them to run better (who doesn't?). I'm probably gonna buy a book for the hell of it, just so I can get all of the other info too.

Thanks again for the responses,

Did a little digging and came up with this pic showing the carb adjusting screws on 2l Euro cars equipped with the Dellorto DHLA 40. Are these the carbs you have? Given that I can't read the Italian text, I'll take a guess that "F" is the idle speed screw, "S" is the balance and "M" are the mixture screws. If so, then I'd think that the Weber procedure would work just fine. But I've been wrong before too.

Leave it to you Jim to shove it in my face when you're right!! haha I remember messing with something else besides whats on the diagram when I was tuning it, but I can't remember what (bad thing?). I ended up just going ahead and doing it anyways w/o good instructions. Seemed to work fine, but its hard to do it in -5 degree weather.
