'81 Spica spec

Would anyone (Roadtrip?) happen to know the length dimension for the dummy thermostatic actuator for the '81 Spica pump?

Jim -

Dummy Thermo Actuator Tool A40166: 27.8 mm
(Same as on the 75-76 "All Models", and the 77 "Non-Calif Models")

Cold Protrusion 23mm (+/- 1mm) @ 68F. Closer to 22mm for cold climates and 24mm for warm ones. Shim to achieve, if necessary. Proper "cold" calibration aids cold starting.

Hot Protrusion 29mm (+/- 1mm) at 176F and 31mm (+/- 1.5mm) with the engine hot. With engine hot, pump gap should be .019" or less. The mixture does not change at pump gaps less than .019."

The 81's have are the "MONOFARFALLA" variant with the single throat butterfly plus almost every power-robbing, Rube-Goldberg, anti-pollution device ever invented. I've never actually seen one, but they do have a different idle adjustment, etc. It also has a anti-tamper brass cap over the cam centering screw, most of which are probably long-since removed by now.

I have the Factory "Set-up Procedures and Adjustment, 1980-1981 Manual." It's six pages.

PM me you FAX number and I can FAX it to you.

I have a 49 page factory fuel injection manual for the 1981 (& 1980) model year Spider. Since I don't have a scanner hooked up:

Quote:
Maintenance Manual
for Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce
(49 States and California)
Fuel Injection Model
1981 Model Year
I no longer need this manual, if anyone's interested in it.

Another shameless plug: I have many 1980/1981 Spider parts up for auction right now.

Here's a shot of the engine in my Spider showing that brass plug that Roadtrip mentioned.
