Plumbing for SPICA race pump with fuel cell
I am working, slowly, on getting the '74 Spider race car I bought last season to be ready to race.
I am going to use SPICA FI (race pump) and was looking to see how people plumbed their fuel system to the pump.
I know of one vintage racer who just pulls out of the fuel cell, through an inline filter, to a Bosch supply pump, then to the stock SPICA filter, to the FI pump and then back to the cell. I am worried about fuel starvation with this set-up, though he seems to have no problems.
I did the same thing, years ago, when I ran a race pump on my '73 GTV. But, that car used the stock fuel tank and the engine wasn't far from stock.
Looking at the plumbing from the former Wes Ingram '73 GTV that is for sale, it looks like he used two Facet pumps in parallel, which then (I presume) go through a filter, on their way to the Bosch supply pump, then to the FI pump and back.
My question is, do I need to add pumps to supply the Bosch pump, or just use that pump alone?
What are people's experiences?
