1750 GTV dash ?seats
Hi All,
...New to the forum, the car is under restoration, and already I have 2 items Ineed advice on...
I'm hoping some one will be able to give me some insight on restoration of a dashboard for a '69 Series 1 (Euro) 1750 GTV.
I know about Just Dashes and that they could restore the original dash to "new".
I also might be able to source an original - uncracked - dashboard ...! As you might guess, neither option is inexpensive.
My concern is that installing an original (old) dash runs a high risk of just cracking again - either during installation or after a season of driving in hot summer and winter storage in an unheated garage.
Presumably, and according to the "Just Dashes" claims of modrem materials and methods, this would not happen in a newly restored dashboard.
Any opinions - or experiences - out there as to which would be the wiser choice?
...Also,
My seats need recovering and I'm thinking of swapping out the original "flying buttress" drivers seat for a matching passenger seat with an adjustable headrest. I'm going against the original factory issue here and trying to get 2 matching 'flying buttress" front seats with adjustable headrests.
Is there a way to remove and swap only the seat backs? That way presumably, one could keep the driver seat adjuster knob in the original location. To go further, I would presume that the adajuster knob for the headrest could be adapted to be on the opposite side to match...anyone ever attempted this?
I'd first try to seperate the seat back completely from the metal side supports / addusting brackets, but I'm looking at the seats and there are some fasteners on the brackets that I have no idea how to remove.
Thanks in advance all replies,
