por15 prep work?

i want to use por15 on my '69 gtv floor pans before i put down
insulation and carpet. their web page says i need to use their
metal etcher if i'm putting it on stainless, aluminum, galvanized or
polished metal. the sales guys says unless it's sand blasted i need to
use their degreaser + metal etcher before using por15.

what do you think? do i need to etch or degrease the floor pans?

YES

Follow their directions - someone's already Been there-Done that.
The products work-IF you use as directed.
POR-15 likes a surface with some "tooth" to it -Sandblasted metal is ideal. Smooth steel with mill scale is a poor surface for paint adhesion. The Metal prep they recommend gives smooth surfaces enough texture to allow the POR-15 to adhere - Permanently!
The de-greaser does just that, removes any oil or film from the surface to be painted. POR-15's not cheap - do it right and never regret it!

I second what GTD says. If you don't prep the surface correctly, it is just like any other paint and it will not adhere. The last thing you want is to see your $50 worth of POR coming off in sheets and flakes. I would say that the degreasing is the most important thing as well as removing any loose rust. A uniformly rusty but tight surface should have enough "key" to hold it on (hence the Paint Over Rust = POR).
