POR-15 Etching Primer.

I received an email today from POR-15 saying that they now offer an etching primer for use on top of the POR-15 paint. As many of you probably know, painting on top of POR-15 is difficult. Many paints will not adhere, especially if painted after the POR-15 has cured. POR recommended that subsequent primer coats be applied to the POR-15 while the POR-15 is still tacky.

Anyways, the claim is that this POR etching primer will adhere to cured POR-15 paint, providing a good base to lay down final paint.

Yup! It's been available for the last year or so. It works well, as do most all their products, if you follow their directions.
Cheap? NO! Permanent? Time will tell.

Por-15

Its what I used throughout the whole paint and body restoration. Its a little pricey but it should be worth it.

Tito,

Did you use their etching primer, too? Does it work on bare metal or just over POR-15 rust preventive paint? Thanks.

Por-15

I bought a gallon of each. This was way too much for the spider so I have used the remainder on the GTV. From what I can tell its pretty darn tough. You can apply it to the bare metal and it works real well from what I've seen. The builld up is very minimal so several coats will work best. If you do apply it using an air gun wear the best respirator/filter you can get your hands on or be prepared for the worst headache you have ever had.

Speaking of POR-15 have any of you tried to have this stuff aerosolized ? It would be real handy for spraying larger areas under the car.
