Paint for restoration

Hello
I need some advice as to the type of paint to be used for my GTV restoration. Can someone recommend type of colour i.e. syntetic, acrylic, Duco, Nitro etc. Which will give me the best and smoothest surface and wet effect brilliance. I also need to know is the same paint used for engine compartment and boot as for the outside? Can you recommend best colour company i.e, DuPunt, Glasurit etc. Thanks for help.

Alfa Dream - I'd recommend that you go around to a few good body shops there in Israel and ask to look at cars that are painted with the various types of paint. Ask the shop owners if they'd call you when they spray a car with specific types, so you can see them in person.

The shop that painted my car uses Sikkens. I'm extremely happy with the quality of the finish. Sikkens is an original paint supplier to Alfa.

There were four main critera associated with me choosing paint for my Duetto Restoration.

Cost of the Paint
Single Stage or Multi Stage
Availability of Paint forumulas
Capability of your body shop

Cost of Paint
Each paint manufacturer has multiple paint lines. An expensive, medium, cheap, etc.
The top end of each paint line will always look better, but they can get expensive. I chose to use Glasurit 22, which was hundreds of dollars per gallon. Get into the low end paints and it looks like someone poured plastic over your car.

Single vs Multi Stage
Each has their own pros and cons. No opinions given, you need to research the differences for your self.

Availability of Paint formulas
Each paint line has a different formula for each color. Sometimes they don't have a formula for a particular color in a particular paint. I had to get my paint custom made because Glasurit did not have a formula for the color. Most reds are pretty common and available.

Capability of Your Body Shop
Do not assume that a body shop knows how to shoot any kind of automotive paint. They all have their small tweaks that need to be considered. For example, shooting Glasurit 22 Single stage requires a gun slightly different from a gun designed for Dupont stuff. If you first find a body shop you like before you choose your paint, this might lead you to your answer.
