Brake fluid and coolant reservoir cleaning

Does anyone have a good method to clean the plastic brake fluid and coolant reservoirs? The car in this case is a GTV-6 but the same could be applied to my Spider. I don't really mind the discoloration but am aiming to get rid of the accumulated crud. Of course, turning the coolant reservoir nice and white again would be nice.

OK, I had a bit of a go at cleaning one of my brake fluid containers on the weekend, I tried a variety of household cleaners, the 'crud' & other dirt was easy enough to get off, but you can forget about fixing the yellowing, that goes right through the plastic, not just the surface. If you want the containers to look nice & new, it looks like you need to get new containers
