moving seats back...

i need to move the driver's seat on my '69 gtv
back about 3" to make room for my long legs.
i'm prepping the floor pans for repair, and wonder
what is the recommended way of doing this?

moving the threads in the pans seems difficult.
don't know what to think about fixing it so the
rail just slides 3" further. anyone else done this?

john

The seat tracks should have stops on them. Remove the stops and the seat should push back further.

no danger?

no danger of running it back another 3" on the
existing rail position in the floor pans?

Bend you knees. Alfa Romeos are designed for short legged Italians ... thus bend your knees and sit with your legs sprayed around the steering wheel. That is what we all do ... eventually your grow to like it

Can't comment on moving the mounts, but one thing that helps is removing the spacers that go between the floor and the rails. That 1/2 inch lower position helps with the leg room as well as head room.

spacers

yes, i saw the spacers. good to know i don't need them.

a friend of mine suggested this:
fit a plate with two holes to the existing floor holes; use one of the holes to connect plate to floor. the second hole is 3" back. fasten the seat rails to the second hole. cover plate with carpet.

what do you think?

note: most of my height (6'2") is in my legs.
