69 GTV restoration

Hi All, I would like to know if there is any way of cleaning the glass inside surface on the gauges of my 69 GTV. Has anyone attempted this or are these sealed and best left to a professional?

Yes, it can be done. The trick is to very carefully pry the crimp on the back of the trim ring so the trim can be removed without cracking the glass. Although this will mar the trim, it won't be visable when the gauge is in situ.

Would you suggest making a series of cuts along the perimeter of the crimp? Also would you suggest appling some type of caulking when replacing the ring back on. Does this also create condensation in certain conditions?

I believe the trim ring is brass with chrome plating, so it's pretty soft. Go REAL slow. Are they that dirty, or are you trying to get that last 2% solution that takes 80% of the effort?
