Sound systems

Not sure if any of you plan on re-installing your radios in the older cars, but I've found an interesting company. They will rebuild your classic radio using modern hardware on the internals.

I've not done this yet, but will do with a Blaupunkt that came out of my '60 Sprint. I plan on setting it up as a 4 speaker system... I know, Alfas are nice to hear, but sometimes, it's also nice to hear other things during a long drive.

As I understand it, it's about $400 to do this work, which is about the cost of a very good modern system. Although, it's almost impossible to find a really good 2 post system anymore.

I'll give it a shot, but won't know anything for a few months- it takes 6-8 weeks for the rebuild, and I probably won't be in a position to re-install it for another month beyond that.

The hard part will be to find places in a Sprint for 4 speakers so that you don't see them, but can hear them. Any suggestions?

Eric

Eric, if they quoted you $400 you're getting a killer deal. I have a Blaupunkt they rebuilt to the same specs by them plus two outlets which one can connect either an iPod and / or a trunk mounted CD player (and they supplied the core for not too much more additional). It was a lot more than $400 however.

It's for a client's '69 Spider and I should have it installed in a couple / several weeks and will let you know, but assume you will have placed your order by then. I'll only be hooking up two speakers in the kickpanels for now.
