Great, keep all us Aussie Alfa Owners posted! By the way, what miracle products do you have to coat the metal with AFTER it has had the rust removed?

I'm not sure I like a thread that is started by a sales rep.
And did anybody read this correctly? Did I? It took 3 GALLONS to do the hood of the Merc - that's $75 of this stuff. And NINE GALLONS to dot he cast iron TX!! That's $225!
Smells like that stuff from the horse tracks.
I think the BB should keep sales threads in the "For Sale" area.

I don't, either, and we've gotten a lot of them lately for all sorts of crap. This is the first time my interest has been piqued by this sort of thread, although with some skepticism.

According to the website, the stuff is reusable for quite a while, so as long as it isn't lost in the process, one should be able to get several projects out of it. That's one of the things I'd love to see tested. I, personally, can't see spending $25 a gallon for a one-time use, but if lots of parts could be cleaned up for that cost, then I'm interested. If it works as stated. We'll see how the sample tests come out.

I saw a similar product at an automotive chain store @ $9 per Quart so $25 per gallon doesn't sound like a bad deal at all.

Okay, the deal is that I'll be getting some of the product to test after we get back from the Alfa Convention (approx 24 June). So it will be a good month or so from now (07 June) before I can test and report on the product. Can y'all wait that long?

I'm curious... could you add a little corn starch to thicken it up, or would that interfer with the chemical process. If you could, it seems that would help on sheet metal.

some more info - I have used Eastwood's and another company's rust remover as described above. Not cheap - I think $30 a gallon. Both have worked well. I have a small plastic tub that I use to put stuff in. Usually just throw it in and leave it over night, including parts with rubber and plastic which the remover doesn't harm. It is water based, so when you not using it, it needs to be sealed. When the solution in my container gets really nasty, I just filter it with a coffee filter to get most of the gunk out.

Okay, here's a question. Let's say you have a part that for whatever reason can't be submerged in the stuff, and you can't really set up a pump to run over it. Can you soak a cloth in it, wrap it around, and wrap it in plastic to keep it from drying? One part I've got in mind is the stalk of my headlight switch. Can't really disassemble it, can't dunk it. I suppose it could be taken apart to some extent, but that involves removing the steering wheel, etc. . . . I'd rather wrap it to soak it if that will work.
