Spider Seat Shims-Where do They Go

Ok, I didn't keep good notes and now I can't remember exactly where these shims go.

I have the seats out to refresh and repair the pans and recover them.

There are a couple of 3/16" thick shims that go under the seat rails. What is the correct location. The picture of the seat is the drivers side and the shims are between the rail and the seat bottom. IIRC the passenger side had them between the rail and the mount on the floor.

Anybody out there know where these are supposed to go and why?
This is a 1980 S2 spider

Thanks,

Gary

I stand to be corrected, those shims fit between the base and back swivel point, one on each side.
I repaired my seats some time ago,I could be wrong..

spacers

Just had the right side seat out of my 1983 S3
There was one of these spacers between the floor and the rail on the outboard rear mount . Another was floating loose under the seat , but the outboard front fixing screw was missing. inboard rear had a small metal plate between the rail and floor , and the inboard front had nothing.
Just had a look at the left side seat and I think I can see these spacers on the outboard mountings - . diff to see with the carpet in position.
I think the seats have been out previously so not sure if this is all original or not.
Hope that helps
