AROSC Climb to the Stars - Mt Wilson

Well it's time again for our annual trek up to Mt. Wilson to enjoy a picnic dinner and watch the sunset.
This event is one of the easiest to participate in and it only takes up a couple of hours.
Hears the deal in case you haven't read it in Alfacionada.
We will meet at the 76 gas station at the corner of Arroyo and Glenarm in Pasadena. That's right at the end of the Pasadena Fwy. Can't miss it.
We will LEAVE no later than 6:15 pm for the 25 mile drive up to the mountain. If you can't get there by then here are the directions.
From the 210 Freeway take Angeles Crest Hwy (2) and head up the hill.
About 14 miles up the hill you will see Mt Wilson / Red Box Rd.
Here the driving gets fun for the next 5 miles with lots of twisty parts.
We stop right under the antennae, along the side of the road.
We just set up some folding chairs and break out some picnic food. A flashlight or battery lantern would be good. Lately our AROSC picnic deals have gotten a little fancy (for some of us) so if you have the need to show off then an AROSC picnic is your place. Still there is a place for a box of KFC and a can of Coke.
Sorry, no bathrooms so plan accordingly.
Mary and I went up there Sunday evening and were treated to an INCREDIBLE sunset at 7:30.
Here are some notes I made as we headed home:
Bats, no mosquitoes, cool, map of LA and a compass would be helpful, binoculars for looking out over the city.
Mt Wilson is the place where most of the Los Angeles TV and radio antennae are located. Last year one Saab owner claimed his car wouldn't run at the mountain top due to the electromagnetic stuff. No problems for our Alfas.
Remember it is cool up there.
