The Mitty Challange. Any one going??
The wife and I are planning on going down on thurs. We will be camping in the infield Friday-Sunday. We should be meeting Fetta78 and crew there. Lets make it a BB partay
I haven't been to road Atlanta since I was there with Amos Johnson in the late 80's when Team Highball was running Mazdas. I did get to hang out with Davy Jones when he was driving for Jaguar. Can't wait to go and see how it has changed. I would guess that would have been '87 when they were running the Firehawk races at the same time.

Got a room reserved about 10 miles from the track for thurs night. We'll pick out a good spot in the am for all you hillbillys. (Oh yeah... I resemble that remark)
I'm going see if I can scope out at least four spots without pissing anyone off.

Paul,
I've watched Road Atlanta evolve since the early '70s. In my opinion, Panoz has been a blessing and a blight on the place. There's now adequate (or at least more) paddock space and infrastructure maintenance. I've never come to grips on how he ruined the back straight, though. What was once a full bore, spoiler scraping blast through the (now gone) Dip before flying under the bridge is now a cheesy chicane complete with gravel trap with a first gear slog up to the bridge. I dunno, probably dictated by his insurance underwriter or the TV networks.
Anyway, the Mitty on Saturday has been a regular feature of the Atlanta AROC chapter calendar for years. We'd love to meet up with you out-of-town folks. About ten to fifteen of us in five to ten cars caravan up and arrive elevenish. The past few years we've settled onto the knoll overlooking turn 12 and the start/finish line. There's loads of room and some shade trees. It's a Saturday only thing for most of us although I usually come back on Sunday. Do look us up. It would be great to outnumber the British/German/Japanese contingents, too, for once!

I'm planning on going as well. Does saturday usually have the best turnout?
I went on sunday last year and there were only 8 cars in the italian car corral.

That's been our experience. It seems that most of the clubs and groups come Saturday. Sunday is much more of the General Admission crowd. I'm one of the few that comes for both days, albeit usually not in an Alfa on Sunday.
