Looks like an amazing event. Congratulations to everyone on the event team.

Good eye. Bernie Martinez has the Davenport car, Dean Russell has the Kearney car. Neither are in running condition, but I'm sure Bernie will restore it to the same standard as his other wonder cars.

(note that does not mean restored perfect, but restored to period)

Sorry I didn't get a chance to drive your car at the autocross- I did really want to, and show you a few things.

I'm sure you understand...

But I'm really happy that you did learn, and did improve on your runs. Just got to keep the car between the cones.

Perhaps we can talk you into coming to Detroit early if we organize an autocross before the Chicago convention.

What...no pictures of the beautiful tall brunette working for Alfa standing by the 8C? I'll try to downsize mine and post it.

When I ran the autoX I really wasn't trying too hard for the best time I just wanted to feel how the car felt breaking loose (oversteering and under steering) that has been the problem on the road courses I just couldn't get the nerve to push it hard enough so I felt at the autoX I could do that without hurting the car.

I'll be going to the Chicago Covention for sure.

Hey everybody - I'm just ribbin' a very good friend. Like everybody, I'm in awe over what Murray did with his car!

I have told him many times that the best thing to do to make your car go faster is to practice driving more - There are many seconds available there, while $thousands in hardware gets you tenths here and there (except for top race tires, but it takes pretty good driving to take advantage of them...)

A 9 second improvement over practice runs is a good sign that you still have many more to find. I don't doubt that the car has it in her! Good luck next year!

Robert

While I'm still working toward loading a BUNCH of pictures that our members took, here's some that I was informed about. http://msmithphoto.smugmug.com/Cars

BTW, if you have some good pictures that you want posted, please e-mail me- I'll see what I can do about access.

Yep... the parking lot was neat, as was the rest of the convention. Many thanks to Eric, Ines, John, and all of the Detroit AROC Chapter members for their efforts to provide a great convention.

I just wish Danielle and I could have gotten down to the parking lot together more. With Colin having a very mild case of the chicken Pox (thank god for vaccines) and Camille's 9 month old body running out of steam around 8:00 one of us spent the evenings in the room while the other got to go down and talk (and in my case prep the cars).

It was great to meet Mark from Kentucky, and Colin had a great time with his kids. We were so glad to see other kids at the convention.

Danielle's Twinspark berlina performed great at the time trial once Eric helped us figure out the gas tank needed to be vented to prevent the cutting out above 5k. Danielle did shift to 5th on the back stretch though, so she probably could have knocked another second or two off her time.

I was dissappointed the Abarth Formula car came out and ruined my plan to take the N class at both the time trial and the autocross.

We had lots of fun and it was great to meet and put faces to all the Alfa folks who have known my wife all her life.

Great pictures

It's been awhile since I have had the chance to attend a convention. All of the pictures posted by others here made my day. It has taken about 2 hours to scan back and look at all the great pictures.

Thanks to all who took the time to post pictures and comment on what appears to have been a great convention. Perhaps next year!

It was good to meet y'all also!! The kids really did have a great time, in the pool, at the track and the parking lot! Hopefully people will continue to bring the next generation of Alfisti to Chicago........

I might have to bring my spider to Chicago, I know I can beat JohnM and Budsy, plus any Black Spiders that show up!!
