Heres a picture (left to right) of JohnM, myself and Budsy.
Old Budsy, John and Paul (my bother in law) had a blast. Budsy and I even had an old fashion drag race at a set of traffic lights on the road to the hotel.........he found out that the black Spiders are the fastest ones!

Oh I forgot to mention that on Saturday night after the dinner Wes Ingram and Mike Besic wanted to drive my Spider, I rode along with them and man what an honor to have them praise the work that was done to it! Budsy, George Schweikle and Enrique drove it too. George, Wess and Mike are true master's it was a pleasure to watch them get on it.
Eric did a fantastic job but I feel the funnest part of the convention for me was hanging out in the parking lot talking with everyone. It was a great time!

Sounds just like my fondest Alfa convention memories. Lots of hard work by the organizing group, with lots of cool events, and in the end...the guests have the best time hanging out in the parking lot
Wish I could have been there!

Amazing pictures. Looks like one of the best US Alfa events in a long time. Any pictures of Roman's shop tour?

Not really, since the shop tour was moved to a tent we set up for him at the track. Logically, Roman wanted to stay at the track all day, and he had almost all of his cars there. Some I never knew he had- like the very cool (and ratty) TI Super, which was one of 2 that Alfa brought into the US to race. Sweet car, and I got to talk to him about it for some time.
I really wish that the vintage groups around would accpet these cars as they are- unrestored, mostly originals. I think they would all laugh at the TI, which would be a pity, since you can see the hammer marks where they made the fender flairs. This car just oozes with history (and I didn't have a camara). Just as a highlight, the TI Super WON the 12 hr race in Virginia in 1965, beating all big "muscle" car American hardware, pre-dating the Trans Am victory by almost a year- incredible, if you ask me. Speaking with Bob Tucker, they took the Midgley car to an event once, and was turned away, even though it was 100% as it was in '72. Too ratty. ( through some work, they did manage to get on the track that weekend)
Roman has or work on some of the most historic race cars for Alfa in the US, and they are all really interesting cars. I would love to get a chance to take them for a spin someday.

Thanks, I went a little nuts never seen so many Alfa's in one place before.
I didn't post all of the shots still have a few more, but felt the ones I posted gave a good idea of what was there. If there is any interest I have more pic's of some Spiders and GTV's from the parking lot at the hotel and the events.

Does anyone have a pic of the Low Nose SS???
It looks like Detroit did a great job. Congrats. I had a wedding to attend and did not make it..... I was especially interested in seeing one or the two low nose ss's that are in the Detroit area as I have never seen one before. I know that Larry Smith has one and a gentleman with the last name of Maulk (sp?) owns number 75. Did anyone see these cars or take pics....?
Thanks!

Hey, Murray,
I see from the TT results that power alone isn't all the answers. It's still almost all the driver!
Not bad though for a first timer - only 20 sec behind the winner. 'Course that's 25% slower on an under-80 second course.... How come only one run?

60sRacer,
Let's be nice to Murray - he was just taking care of his nice paint and car. And........the winner was a Formula car - not in the same class.
Mike Besic does have a FAST race car - race suspension and brakes and so on - so it's also a diferent class........
No - Murray did not pay for this reply

What Eliseo posted was the fastest of the 3 timed laps during the TT part. I'm compiling the results from the practice sessions, too.
We had a few break downs, so we may have to revise the results so that people who broke do have a real time.
The sessions were 2 12 min session in the morning, and then a warm up+ 3 timed laps in the afternoon.
If Waterford was a bigger track, then we might have gotten more cars on track during the TT, but it's only 1.4 miles, and with a 1:30 average lap time, you can only realistically keep 3 cars on the track gapped by 25-30 sec (and we did have 2 almost catches).
It was great, still, though. I'll try to post the autocross results on the website tonight.
Eric

I'm just a beginner but I did lower my time by 9 seconds from the practice runs in the morning to my best timed run in afternoon. I'll be better next year.
