Padova Mostrascambio
Is anyone going to this event? I sooooo want to go because I missed the Imola event in September. Unfortunately I'm kinda committed to work-related stuff in Paris this weekend, but I was wondering if someone could look out for a couple of early 105 parts for me?

Alex,
I am looking for details on this event. Do you know exactly where it is being held and have you been to it before? Is the emphasis on cars, or bikes, or models? Some mostrascambio's are hit and miss...

It's this weekend. As far as I know, it's the biggest held in Italy. See http://www.autoemotodepoca.com/ for more info. I used to be a law student in Padova, so for anyone who's going I'd sincerely recommend staying in Mestre and catching the train to Padova each day - it's only 20 mins and is more convenient for Venice Marco Polo airport (that is, unless there's now a hotel attached to the Fiera and you're not interested in sightseeing). I wouldn't recommend staying in the area of the Exhibition Centre itself - the whole area around the old marshalling yards was flattened by the 8th Air Force in 1944 and badly rebuilt post-war. It's not a nice area at night, and a bit of a hike to the town centre itself. Art lovers can wander over to Giotto's famous Brancacci Chapel though, and what's left of Mantegna's frescoes in the church next door (so much for the inherent accuracy of daylight bombing ....).

Hi Alex,
As it turns out, I will probably be there on Saturday. From my experiences with most mostrascambio's, there isn't much treasure that couldn't be sourced from AFRA. Usually you can find some good books, decals and what-nots. Every once in a while you run into something that might be a 8C 2300 Steering wheel- or that of a tractor. You cant tell what you are looking at, but it's still fun to look.
Still, the piadine salsicce (sausage sandwiches on flat bread) are to die for!
BTW, you have a nice little show of your own in the NEC. I was there last year and enjoyed it, though three straight days was a bit too much.

Bill,
If you see either of these parts, would you mind picking them up for me if they're perfect NOS and not stupidly expensive? The first is a Carello map light that fits under the dash and has a lid which rotates to activate the bulb. The second is a door striker plate which I believe has a 102 xxxxxxxxx part number: unlike the later 105 plates, this one does NOT have a groove in the top with a little spring - I need two of these. I'd be happy to reimburse all costs and a finder's fee should you come across either part. I would have PM'ed this to you but alas it's not possible to send pictures privately!
Alex.
PS In the last photo you'll see that there's a rubber weatherstrip which seals the door gap under the B-post. Originally this was a moulded part but nowadays you have to make do with a regular extrusion that's a terrible fit. So if you see a pair of real ones, let me know? Thanks!!
PPS If anyone is going to the Birmingham NEC event in the UK this weekend, you'll see my father's Iso Grifo IR8 on the Classic & Sportscar Magazine stand, which is featured in the issue about to go on sale. It's golden yellow and highly gorgeous, you won't be able to miss it!

Hello my friends,
I will be going to Padova this weekend too. I went there once before (2 years ago) and it was by far the best autojumble I have ever been to!!! Do bear in mind that I went last time only to find Abarth parts (which were plentiful), so I am eager to experience the event as a converted alfa nut. If I remember correctly, Padova has about 6 exhibition halls each one is about 2-3 times the size of Stoneleigh. Two of these exhibition halls are dedicated to car parts. The other four were dedicated to displays and car sales. It is worth noting that Coys of Kensington are holding an auction there which indicates the popularity of the event.
If you have nothing planned this weekend you would be crazy not to go!
All the best,

Hì Alex and all,
Padova was overwhelming. I was there on Saturday. I did not see the parts you were looking for unfortunately but I will check again with a supplier here in Italy. It was like looking for a needle in a haystack. I did find some treasures and am struggling with how to get them home! I will post photos upon my return...
