Lunch is anywhere you please. I'm including a map of town with my driving instructions, which will list all of the restaurants on Battle Street. Since the crowd has the potential to be very large, we cannot pick one place to feed everyone, so we just turn everyone loose to fend for themselves. It usually works out very well. And there will be no "restart" after lunch. The Atlanta cars will eat and continue on the route as they please.

The Birmingham British Car Club is organizing a drive from Barber's to Talladega. The group is planning to leave the Barber Museum Parking lot at about 9:00 AM - you're free to join them - many of the other Birmingham clubs are in on this. If you want contact into, sent me a PM and I'll put you in touch with the BBCC contact. It won't be necessary unless you need any specific information - they're welcoming anyone to join them.

If you want to come to Talladega on your own, the Birmingham group is gathering at the Community College parking lot, across the street from WalMart on Haynes St. (at the east side of town). The Atlanta group should start arriving just after 11:00 CST. You can watch the arrival and join in as you like.

I will be arriving at the Comm. Coll. about the same time at the BBCC group. I will have direction sheets for the route from Talladega to Barber. I will most likely be in my white Spider.

Now, if anyone can guarantee that it won't be raining, then we'll be all set!

Looking forward to seeing a lot of Alfas.

George, rain or shine or cloudy I will be there. The weather is always "iffy" this time of the year, it just goes with the territory.

See you Saturday.

Thumbs up Rain or Shine

The Atlanta TV stations are showing horrible weather for this weekend's Polar Bear Run. I think they're upset that we're not getting tons of snow like Denver, and are just being miserable.

Actually, both the Weather Channel and NOAA web sites show only a moderate chance of rain showers for later on Saturday afternoon.

All systems are GO for a Saturday launch.

Everyone is welcome to join the drive at the start in Newnan, GA, but a large number of Birmingham folks will be meeting the crowd in Talladega at lunch time. The Birmingham British Car Club is organizing a drive from the Barber Museum to Talladega, expecting to depart Barber's at 9 AM (CST). If you show up, they'll take you along. Their destination will be the Community College parking lot, across Haynes St. from WalMart on the east side of Talladega. Grab a bite anywhere in town, and join in the fun.

I will be arriving at the Talladega meeting area about 10:30 and will furnish driving instructions for the back-roads drive to Barber's.

See y'all soon!

ROTFL! Isn't cold, crappy, winter weather kinda the point of a Polar Bear Run? I'll be disappointed if it's sunny and 70* (he says from a coupe with working wipers and a good heater).

To Geo Re: polar bear run

George, you did a great job putting together the Polar Bear Run. It was polar Bear weather for us Southern folks. I need to get a pair of polar bear pants for next year's run. It was a blast. Nice people, great cars to look at and a nice scenic drive. What more can you ask, and oh yea, good BBQ joints.

Smile The Bear is done.

Thanks to all who showed up for the event.

There were a few sprinkles for the day, but I understand we had way better weather than the folks who stayed home in Atlanta!

I'm still waiting for an official count, but I'm guessing that we had between 120 and 140 cars by the time we reached the Barber Museum. The Alabama clubs really turned out - and we had visitors from Tennessee come down as well.

We've already been giving thought to the PBR #8 - we'll probably have an announcement by mid-summer. Stay tuned!
