Any idea how many BBers have responded or are planning to show/attend?
I missed the show last year but was there the year before. It was great!
I plan on attending this year. Will you have a booth or a way of us BBers getting in touch?
Looking forward to it.

AlfaBBers- Please come on out. Meet at red & white tent at 1 p.m.

Thanks for the nice word! Glad you have enjoyed previous shows.

Here is a suggestion. The site for the Saturday show is very large, about 5 acres. May I suggest AlfaBBers meet at the red & white tent at 1 p.m. Sometimes these meet-at-the-show things don't work out because people get distracted by a special car or meeting an old friend on the showfield or whatever, but maybe it is worth a try.

BTW, don't forget:

To bring some cash for the one-day-only raffle for a NEW VESPA. It is donated by the Italian Car Car Club of the Southwest. 100% of the proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Even if your car is not in the show, please consider signing up for the 'Saturday Evening at Gaylord'. The form is under 'Visitor' at the web site italiancarfest.com.

And Track Day is Sunday Sept. 10 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Hi Bill,

I will hopefully be showing my blue 164 LS. It is trying to get some last minute repairs completed. Please swing by and say hello and thanks for coming all the way up from Corpus.

Take care,

Jeff

An added bonus:

Yes, I know it is not Italian, but our Tom Tjaarda exhibit will feature a recent project of his - the Shelby Series 2. This is a partial redesign of the Shelby Series 1 and was just unveiled at Concorso!

Day-of-Show, On-Site ENTRY information

The ICF regular and extended registration periods are over. Saturday's Show will be the biggest yet. Probably due to the fantastic change in the weather, we have had several questions about whether we will be allowing on-site entries on Saturday morning. With our new location, we have plenty of room for more entries and will be able to arrange them properly - so come on out!

However, since we need to get day-of-show entries registered, properly classed and on the field in a good location, please be at the show field by 8:00 - no later. Because we feel this is THE year to be at ICF, we have decided to keep the premium for day-of-show registration to a minimum. Saturday on-site registration will be only $75. You will get to participate fully in the judging and enjoy the benefits of the hospitality lounge aboard the Lonestar Lady.

We would like to thank everyone for their interest and support!

And another wonderful car that we are getting close to the show date:

1935 Fiat 508S Mille Miglia Aerodynamica Coupe

The car has been in Italy for most of its existence. Once owned by the mayor of Milan.

Picked up Mr. Tjaarda at the airport Wednesday and several Fiat spiders and Panteras met us at the restaurant Love & War in Texas. He is wonderful and was already posing for photos with cars & their owners. Also signing glove box doors!

Here is my take on this event:

This turned out to be a great show. In many ways it was a lot better than this years national Alfa Convention. As all the cars were parked together we could all meet and socialize around our cars. At the national convention you could be standing next to someone who's car you admired but not even know it as the cars were parked a long way from the convention.

At Italian Car Fest there were many exotics along with the Alfas, Lancias, and Fiats (our Fiat 600 won 1st in the "mixed Italian" class whatever the heck that is).

The Alfa turnout was fantastic. A 1930ish Supercharged Alfa with some serious history was on display. A Callaway TT GTV6, a Montreal, A very hot 3.0 GTV6, and amazing original owner White 1985 GTV6, quite a few nice spiders and two near perfect GTVs. It was really a great time.

I think I talked to about 100 people and I had some great conversations. I can't mention the people for fear of forgetting one! There were just so many. Again, it was a great time with a great group of folks.

The track day was today, I just got back. Everyone had a great time. Ryan from Vick Autosports burned up the track in his Fiat 128. Steve M. went seriously fast in his Alfetta. Nothing was officially timed however I think Steve's car was the fastest non exotic Italian car there. Only one Alfa Spider showed but it was a nice and fast 72' model. My wife drove our GTV6. She started out slow but by the end of the day only the exotics were going significantly faster around the course.

I did have my first automotive failure in a long time. On the back straight the 25 year old relay set quit. Of course this shut the car off instantly. I had another with me so once the car was towed in it was running withing a few minutes, and back out of the track for the next session. I did have to change out the brake fluid once as my wife was getting pretty agressive and boiled the fluid.

No Alfas had any serious issues and all survived the day. We packed up our cooler and drove the supercharged GTV6 home. Wow are we tired!

P.S. I was very dissapointed in one thing. The DFW area has an incredible amount of performance shops. Some of these shop specialize in tuning exotics and claim some pretty impressive numbers. However on track day few showed up. Mvpeurosports brought a hot Ferrari (nicely driven), a 128 from Vicks and my GTV6. Where the heck was everybody!

Thumbs up Italian Car Fest

I attended the Italian Car Fest yesterday and I got to say that this was an absulutely FANTASTIC event like nothing I have ever seen in the past in TEXAS. Jerry, Bob and all the people that were involved MOST definitely DESERVE a hats off and a BIG Thanks for the tremendous effort and coordination required to pull off such a first class event. To recap my overall observation of the event in the least words possible:

Location and vehicle display was first class with a nice view of the lake and refreshing cool breeze from the lake to enjoy the walk and chat with many good friends from all over who attended the event.

Accessibility, parking, and assistance in helping people get there with shuttle transportation was an absolute winner with the attendees.

The special corral to allow Italian cars owners and any other automotive mark of distinction park their vehicles near by allowed for additional opportunities to walk around and view and appreciate these vehicles as well.

Vendor tents displays, food court tents, additional tents for clubs and group display, as well as the live music allowed the added element for a day out to enjoy the day and relax.

I plan to make my early reservation for next year and hope to show a few of my cars there.

Jerry and Bob and the rest of the gang GREAT JOB and VERY WELL DONE. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Lionel

Garrick,
Those photos are great. They actually make my GTV6 look better than it really does. Is it ok if I use some on my website?

It looks as if you look a picture of every single car at the show!

Please feel free to use my photos.

I made a couple of quick runs around the field to try to get a photo of each car - hard to do when you are trying to work the event. Some of the entrants/visitors photo albums probably have better angles of some of the cars, but given the short amount of time I was going for quantity not perspective quality.

The wheels are in motion to create an even bigger and better enthusiast weekend in 2007. Please consider participating as an entrant, guest or sponsor. I think you will find the show-day crowd large and enthusiastic. And the cars, motorcycles and scooters are first rate.

Oh, a special note: the bang for your buck cannot be beat at ICF!

BTW, this is one of the few national events that is not organized as a for-profit venture by promoters. ICF Weekend is organized by the Italian Car Club of the Southwest, a 501 C 4 non-profit.
