I'll be with the SZ in the first photo along with the Swig's SZ and Sid Gage's blue spider and Al Leake's black one and Castaing's GTA. - George

I agree that Vintage racing should not be full on racing ... but I do not agree that 'cut & thrust' and thus panel rubbing and pushing people off is REAL racing.
Many young people (BTW I'm only 38) think that racing is not real unless somebody punts somebody off ... that is bollocks. REAL racing does not involve drivers who do NOT have enough skill to not hit the other car in close racing. They also should have patience to look for genuine gaps and USE skill to pass another car ... not simply bash him/her off.
I used to race at club level and I've only hit 1 other car in that time and it was 100% my mistake for getting impatient ... and I went an appologised afterwards ... and felt embarrassed.
I watch racing like 'Australia's V8 Supercars' and personally think many of the drivers should have their license removed, as they simply do not understand what car racing means, and resort to solving their lack of ability by bashing their cars past others ... and they call themselves good drivers ... bollocks I say.
They real top drivers are the ones with perfectly straight cars at the end ... funny that , and it always has been! And those guys were racing at 10/10ths too ... which is why they won .

It was a nice weekend under the blue sky's of the valley. A pretty relaxed weekend for me. I drove the Alfa to work friday and then left a bit early to get to the track to go through tech. After tech I went over to our paddock space and unloaded the wine (Italian). The assembled group was having sufficient fun that we never made it to the organized party.
Saturday the driver meeting was at 7:30 as the overly full event made it a full day. Practice was nice and the car felt very good. The qualifying race was a bummer as I could not get around a AC Bristol. Eventually I dropped way back so I could at least get a clean lap in an came up with a 2:20 plus a few hundredths, as good as I can do.
Sunday morning the car felt very quick so I was disappointed in the afternoon when Bristol held and extended his lead on me. In the end the SZ's were all over the map. Alan Frick with a 2:04 lapped me in the nineth lap finishing seventh, Sandy McNeil was around fifteenth with 2:12's, I was thirty-first, and Esta Swig was thirty-fifth a lap and half behind me. An MGA twin-cam was running behind me and half way through the race he found a couple seconds somewhere and started catching me. After a couple of laps with him in the mirror I thought about being stuck the day before and waved him by. I think Al Leake was fouth. I'll check the sheet and correct mistakes when I'm home.
Soon thereafter we broke out the wine again. Then an easy drive home, chased by the CHP once, and then a nice dinner with the family. - George

Awesome!
My brother said David Swig called him to do the Sat night run into Sonoma with him, but he was climbing Half Dome at Yosemite.

David had some fun with their big Buick Indy car. Very cool. He seemed to feel obligated to stay with it at the Sonoma event so I hope he got something to eat. His mom is great to get out and thrash their SZ around the track. Neat family, I love the way they share this interest. - George

Did anyone get any racing photos? I just had my little point and shoot so I did not take a ton of photos. Anthony, if you want any interior or engine shots on the GTA's I took several of those. Not much else but I did try to cover the GTA's. - George
