AROSC at Las Vegas

I'll be there and try to get some pics. I still don't know how to make them small enough to post, but if I can't get it I'll email them to Anthony.
I figured if I can't get anyone else to compete in class IP, I'll give one of the fast guys some warm up time and then let them try to beat the new track lap record that I'll set on Sunday.
then the car's going up for sale. Need to move up to G or F.
This is an historically correct, bone stock 65 Giulia Ti and will make a great daily driver. Complete rebiuld on engine, clutch, new ATE break system and a Fred Schueddekoff suspension, new hand sewn and fitted upholstery, etc., etc.

By the way, I believe we've arranged to have gas at the track - we just may not have a volunteer to man the pump

Vegas was, um.... interesting.

A very technical track, lots of tight, short sections, no chance to hit 5th gear ever, and not a whole lot of 4th either.

My own problem was trying to re-learn to drive my new motor, while at the same time trying to learn the track.

Saturday was spent in the pits with one chickensh*t problem after another. DNF'd the qualifying race with a spin that killed the motor.

Sunday there was alot of attrition. Jim Ferris fried his bottom end.
Alan Ward lost his gearbox, etc. etc.

The race had 7 starters, Frank Moore's Milano and Randy Harris on the front row, me in the back with only Brad Gray in Alex Brown's old GTV behind, since he was borrowing the car and had not run the qualifying race at all.

Frank ran off in front, while i worked my way to midpack, then second overall (first in "C"). The rest of the gang eventually fell from sight behind, so the finish was uneventful: Frank, myself, then Bruce Colby.

Too long of a drive/tow for me though, not sure if i'm ever going back....

No pics either, sorry.

You should get the long distance tow award..Santa Cruz to Las Vegas...long drive. I know how you feel. I towed all the way to Portland in July. I'll never do it again (at least not for a long time) because towing a trailer for 16 hours straight only stopping for gas is not fun.

The Las Vegas race and TT results are now posted
AROSC. Since the track configuration was new, every class winner set a track record!

The event went well except for the occasional dusty spins that put gravel on the track. Oh, and the P-car that spilled it's guts in the sweeper.

Still, LV is a bit of a drive. I was lucky because I left home at 4:30 AM Friday so the traffic was generally light. Later in the day I'm sure it wasn't. Then I didn't have to leave until Monday AM and again the traffic was not bad. Still it's 325 miles of towing for me (one way) but that's only 75 more than Buttonwillow, at least the way I do it.

As for the track, I thought it was great fun, partly because it was new and partly because it was a challenge to drive well. It wasn't until the race on Sunday that I started to get into a flow while driving it. The long left sweeper followed by a jog right onto the front straight took a long time to figure out. Then there were the bumps at the end of the front straight that made braking interesting. There are still a couple of places I have yet to get my head around so I for one will be looking forward to going back.
