Yep, not looking 100% but I am hoping for a Saturday AM window of "goodness". It does seem to rain here a lot.

What's it all about Alfie?

As to the Alfas & Airplanes this Saturday: After breakfast, what's the usual goings on? End time? Items to bring? Thanks.

Wink cruised thru Huntsville last night with new alfa

all you guys in northern alabama,

picked up new alfa yesterday in Fla. trying to bring home to Tn. when I hit Hwy 72 there are Tornadoes north and we fled east into Huntsville proper to outrun the storm with me hauling new car on open flat bed.

Quite a storm, but no casualties on my part. Wish I could be there, but road weary at this point.

71 spider to be displayed in photo section soon, we call her "The Beauty"

Jim Isaacs I know you were there if I needed you

Bill,
Bring an Alfa! But you might want a hat and some sunscreen as well. We'll depart from Big Ed's at 8 AM to go to Moontown. After breakfast, we'll walk around and see airplanes for a while, and everyone just leaves on their own whenever they are ready. One of the local Spider owners has said he wants to set up a time for everyone to come to his house for burgers at lunchtime after wards. I don't know what month that will be, but sometime this summer I suppose.

Jerry, I saw that one too and if it were not for going through this house deal we just concluded Monday, I'd have beat you to it! That one has potential!

Alfas & Airplanes results 6/20/09

Another good time!
Here are a few pictures. Sorry I didn't get everyone's cars. We kind of got split up at the parking area. First picture is Bill's 164L on the left and my 164S on the right. We also had Stan's and Chuck's GTV-6's, Jim's Milano Verde, and Ken's BMW Z3 on the tour from Big Ed's to Moontown.

Second pic is the flightline at Moontown. Name your favorite, it was probably there. Mine as the Lake Amphibian that took off just as we got there. Had me scrambling for the camera but it was too fast for me.

After the Alfas and Airplanes we had Alfa's, swimming, and cookout at Ken and Kim's place. I have a new color, my shoulders and face are are now Alfa Rosso. Anyway, at Ken and Kim's place we see my 164S, Bill's 164L, and Jim's gorgeous Milano Verde (just out of reset) in the third pic. Later on, Chuck showed up in his GTV-6 and Kevin brought out is 911 Porsche.

Fourth picture, some of the action at the pool!
Point to Team La Voce!

Last picture, my signature dessert!

Let's do this again!

Yeah, it was pretty well attended anyway. My wife was even there! I was going to try to send out a reminder cause I knew Jim was at Scout camp. But I didn't get it done, and I remembered after I was already out of my apartment, and I don't have the internet hooked up at the new house yet. Should be up by Tuesday or Wednesday this week. I am in TX right now doing stuff. Back in AL Monday way, way late.

Breakfast was very good- those scratch biscuits, wow . The high speed low pass by that beautiful polished aluminum Warbird really made it memorable. No worries about your son, the Force is strong in that one. If he can be turned, he could be a powerful alfista. Here's some pictures, starting with the gathering at Big Ed's, the cars climbing the mountain, a couple shots of us parked in front of the hangar, and that beautiful P-51 Mustang blowing past a classic yellow Piper Cub parked on the side of the grass strip at over 200 mph. It doesn't get much better than this.
See you next month.

I think we have another Alfa date with airplanes and biscuits and gravy this Saturday, 18 July. Bicuits and gravy, way better than biscuits and mustard. I will try to be there but I am not sure when the movers are arriving at the house in TX to pack us out. So I may see you all at Big Ed's parking lot before 0800 Saturday, or I may be back in TX. Look for me if you see me there. I'll be the one in the Alfa. One of many I hope.

This is the one

It's that time again, and this month is the big annual fly in, free rides for the kids, live music, food kiosks, a warbird or two, lots of experimental and home builts. An all day event Saturday and most of Sunday, as opposed to the usual Saturday morning only participation by the local pilots. I can't make it Saturday as I have a Scouting event conflict but I will be there Sunday morning!

About the only thing better is 8 of them along with 2 P40s. Well, thats assuming you aren't at the Reno Air Races this weekend, then you get cracked out P51s doing 490+ along with some Sea Furys, Grumman Bearcats, a Yak, ect.

I got to see the 8 mustangs and 2 P40s a couple weeks ago at a Mustangs and Mustangs gathering, the North American built Mustangs were cool, the Fords I could do with out.
