Air-Con in Sprint

Im in Australia and aircon is needed...

Is the aftermarket air-con that came on the sprints worth getting fixed or is it better to just start again with another system???

Anyone gone down these paths???

i've had a couple of sprints with aircon and have ripped it out on both occassions. i've done this predomiantly to get rid of some weight et al for racing, but a significant factor in making the decision was that it was not great loss in terms of comfort. As you'd be aware, ventilation in the sprint isn't exactly good and the fan system is pretty weak. even with the aircon cranked up the airconditioning was pretty ineffective.

if you're going to go the airconditioning i'd suggest a very good move would be working out how to improve the fan speed etc so it can actually blow the cold air around a lot better than the standard system. i don't know if this has been done before by anyone.

I tend to employ the '280' airconditioner in summer. i convince myself the sweat is good for my health.

will have a look in the garage if i still have the aircon systems that came out.

Get the ventilation out of a S3 33 & modify the firewall to get it to fit - and add a heater tap & everything else...

They're the best out of the bad bunch, but still not as good as anything Japan produces.

Mine runs at 2 degrees and thats in the heat too... standard system with new upgraded compressor and the old r12 gas runs colder too.

Hi,

What type of compressor did you upgrade to?

Any photo of the compressor please?

Regards,
