Well , since i am about to start making small changes on my sprint since i dont have to do a full restoration i think it is a nice chance to create a thread of thinks we all can do to our cars.

Well , first think was that i replaced the original airbox with one of a 33 QV. The advantage is that the iron fence stays on the box and not on the removable metal cover so even if we remove it there is small protection against rubbish..... as for the cover i painted using red color which was heat resisant . Before that i used 600 & 800 sandpaper to grid it and the final result was guite impressive:

Air box Panted

As for the air intake i bought one 65mm ventilation tube from a shop that had industrial products which was quite cheap. It was a perfect feat on the one mounting point end and needed only a small modification to the airbox :

Air Intake industrial Tube

Also in order to increase the ammount of air i removed the cover on the intake mount behind the grill:

Removed air intake protection cover

I also started polishing all the metal and aluminum parts in the engine room. I used a soap that it is used to polish metal and aluminums which is quite cheap. The procedure is quite good and here are the first tests on the water cap and on the magneti marelli restrictor:

Polisted Water cap
Polished Magneti mareli

if someone else has something similar is free to post it here...

Rims are from a 75 from a scrapyard , 7jx15 BBS made in Itale , Design2000 with 195x50.15 tyres. There is no problem in the clearance , just that the are a lot of heavier that the 5.5jx14 of the Capagniolo that had before and in combination with small OBA steering wheel it is much harder to haddle when standing. Also there is significant torque steer especially wheen turning and one wheel spins due to size but nothing serious or dangerous.

Side skirts are from a 33qQV S1 but also those from a 33 16v can be fit...

I just got my rear axel full with disks and anti-rollbar from a 33 16v. I have cleaned it for starters and next thing i will do is paint it a little to prevent rust. I will post fotos tomorrow from the axel now that it is out.... I also have high pressure pipes to install...

here are a couple of photos of a 16v rear axel that is goint to be installed on my sprint. It"s a " bolt in " procedure , currently painting parts. Soon I ll post the calipers painted red.... They look great.

With yellow is the antiroll bar....

How can this be a bolt in procedure, when all 4 suspension arms are faceing forward on the 16v, and on the sprint 2 arms face forward and 2 arms face backwords? How are you going to solve that?

No problem about that... I will use the 2 rods from the drums axel on the new axel .... We have done it before and it worked..But if i remember correctly they are the same , they just change direction.

What model of 16V did the disc brake rear end come off? Did it have an ABS system? Im intrigued to know.
I dont think we got a disc brake rear axle on Australian delivered cars, well not that I have seen.

Please post photos of the calipers and hand brake mechanism for us all to see

They dont have ABS , only few models of 33 had , the latest models and most of them are still on the road. The specifix one i took it from a scrapped 33 1.4 that had all the suspension taken from a 33 16v and it was waiting for a 16v engine until a young girl bumped on the car with a Toyota...
Since i have Already the suspension of the 16v with yeallow Koni and lowered springs it will be great and the best thing is the antiroll bar which improves a lot the handling...

Here are the rear calipers painted with 2 hands of red thermal paint. I took only 1 and a half can of spray to do them with cost at about 10 euros.

Also , i did the rear axel with black Hammerlite that didnt required primer but could stick on rust to cover minor damages and rusting point , especialy on the suspension mounting point. Cost? Another 7.55 euros. I am waiting to dry so i cancover it and paint red the antiroll bar.

So , the last thing is to clean and paint with the same color the front calipers from 16v....

Wel yesterday i finished installing brakew from 33 16V for better performance. it was quite an easy mod and higly recommended for brake upgrade.I have taken pictures during the upgrade that i post below.
Couple of thing in mind:

1. 33's mounting point are in different place than Sprint (all facing forward)
2.The brake fluid distributor on the Sprint is placed on the left drum and from there it goes to the right drum.

Here we go :

Here is the rear axel from 33 16v painted with the antirollbar (in red)

We mount the brake calipers on the axel

Here it is bolted on:

Well the fiirst problem we discovered is that the rear moynting point didnt fit , either from the old axel nor the new one. Here is what i mean...

So we decided to remove the drums from the old axel and install there the disk calipers. After all the have the same mounting.
So here is the removal of the drums. Also you can se the brake fluid lines which is different that 33...

Here is the axel again on the car but withount the drum. On the same place we will fit the caliper

We used the front mounting from the new axel with the antirollbar .Here is a pic..

One more...

Another look on the antiroll. It is important that the vertical bar should be almost under mounting point in order to work properly.

Here is the rear caliper installation. As you can see no difficulty to install it on the old axel..

done , the caliper is on . Just bolt in..

The next interst thing was the brake lines. We moved the distributor back to the car floor instead of the left place it was with the drums...

A closer look..

On the right side we had to find an extension or manufacture one. Fortunately we found one in the scrap part and used it..

Finally . we had to replace the hand brake cables with those for calipers. I am guessing that this can be done in older models with sud brakes if someone wants to have rear handbrake..

After finishing rear handbrake we went on the front . Here is the 16v caliper and ventilated disks. Simply bolt in . I have painted also the calipers and they look great

Ok , after filling the brake system with new brake fluid and removing air we finished , here is a look with the rims on. well thy will lokk better when i clean the wwhole car but here is a preview..

Ok , i forgot to mention one crusial thing... After we finished the circuit we had to recalibrate the brake regulator. We placed a hydraylic lever on the center of the axel while on the ramp so that the rear wheels are on the air and then we placed weight on the regulator switch, something about 6kgs.
