Alfasud Sprint - Water pump removal - help !

Have everything stripped down, bonnet off the car but no amount of bashing or pulling on the pump will free it ?

Any suggestions ?

I have squirted penetrating oil on it for a few hours but no change....

As you can see from the pic, trying to prize a level behind the mount area is just breaking off bits of the pump...

help ....

pic attached...

Sadly breaking it apart is the only way to go. Keep bashing away at the pully end and eventually it will come out. It is the only way.

Well mine was out after a little efford but but my old pump was clean without any saults or minerals blocking her. So i guess you have to use force to remove her...

Adding the red sealant will not have helped either. When you fit the new pump clean all the gasket faces spotless and flat.

Pump is finally out after lots of bashing with a small lump hammer and cold chisel....once you break the vains on the casing - it surrendered....

No damage to the block face or edge....

Pic attached of the broken old pump...

Does it matter which way the new pump goes in ? The block has two water inlets/outlets --- one is at the top of the hole and the other is on the left --- should the pump line up with these ?

I think the bolts are orientated such that it goes in the correct way only.

I’m with the "Greek" I already have problems whit plastic turbines of my 33 and sud because I run them very hardly and the turbines one broke and the other become loosen in the axel, I but in both cars water pumps from lockeed whit metallic turbines and don't have more problems, only need a caution, don’t put water in the block, only cooling liquid to prevent the rust of the block and of the turbine
