I don't have the dark grey box on mine, I assume there is a thermostatically controlled by pass in there. I may run ducting from the alloy elbows to down behind the headlamps with foam filters somewhere. Be careful getting two much air as your torque will more than likely go down; I had some Fiat Abarths that had ram pipes etc as standard plus an airbox half the size of the Alfa, when you removed the box you lost about 10% torque. In the old days we used to pipe the inlet to an area of low depression not in direct flow for this very reason. But hey i'm an old fart and things change.

If Cold Air equals more power then less weight must equal faster acceleration and your A/C weighs about 20kg right?
I have fitted a primitive cold air intake to my car, but before this i took my A/C off and put it in a dark corner of our shed...

I think that you should go for 65mm because it has to overlap the of the intake tube on the car next to radiator.I have bought a 65mm on my sprint and was a perfect fit ....
