Yes, I was wondering what the engine changes were to reach 170hp with the 16v, I am aiming for around 150hp with my 8v 1.7.

ok thanks now i understand

i buyed this engine how it is so i dont know all specs
but this is what i do know:

40mm carbs
upgraded pistons
race cams
adjustible cam gears
flowed heads
compression ratio is changed
displacement dissipate (it was a 1.7 and now its a 1.6 engine)
valves now function mechanical and not hydraulic
lightened flywheel:

lightened crankshaft pulley (welded a 8v crankshaft pulley on a 16v crank)

the previous owner told me 168hp/192nm was with the original 16v
exhaust manifold and "hot air intake"
so some hp is lost there i guess.!

on 29 april my car is going on a dyno to test hp and fine tune carbs and ignition so i have to wait to see how much hp it realy has got

yesterday i had my first real test drive (had lots of fun!! )
engine worked great but it felt like it was holding back sometimes.
at 7000 rpm the engine lost all its power while 8000 rpm shoeld be no
problem (ignition timing? cam belt timing?carbs?)

so more pictures and videos soon

Excellent, I bet you're pleased. This is calculated at the flywheel with a % loss? Or at the wheels?

Sorry but if your saying you have 181hp at the wheels this is hard to believe.
They come with 132bhp @the wheels from factory.
The upgraded fuel pump ??? why the standard one is the same flow rate as a VL commodore turbo.. and with a fuel pressure regulator you will find carbies only use bout 8 psi.
And cams only give marginal gains they just tend to move the power around to a higher rev range thus the incraesed lift or duration will allow a bit more fuel in at the higher range.
And i really have to ask why change from EFI to Carbs???
Carbies have little to no tunning advantages and they use a considerable amount of fuel.
Very curious as this power figure is abit out there, with those mods.

fly33boxer, he does say he's got different pistons, lightened flywheel, ported heads, better cams, vernier pulleys, raised compression. Only details missing other than specifics are exhaust and crank (other than stroke). AHM Motorsport are seeing 280bhp with 2.0 16v. Bang for buck IMO are cams, especially if you back that up with other flow mods.

thanks!
yes its engine hp, with -0.15 hp km/h losses added (see on top of chart)
i love carbs and i,m sure enough hp is gained with them (My red 33 is faster now!)
standard feulpump is not good enough my friend..
and the list of modifications on this engine includes only the parts i know of.
(like i sayed befour i buyed the engine like this)
exaust manifold is standard and i dont know the crank mods.

my video will explain more i think.. (asap) great sound!!

Sorry m.jansen but the video if quite underwhelming, we need to see some real world applications of the power with a common benchmark so we can see just how much difference it makes

The car sounds great! Did you say earlier that the engine had been downsized to 1600ccs? If so, why?

@lenus: i,m thinking of making a video, my black original 33 16v VS my red 33 16v Carbs VS my 181 hp 33 16v. i think its a good idea
also a friend has got a lancia delta integrale 8v. like to race him someday and film it.so i got enough ideas to test performance

the 4 mini tornados the engine maked impressed me (and a few friends )enough but maybe that does not count for evryone (see 00:18 to 00:28 in the video)

@oz3litre: Yes i sayed earlier it is a 1600, previus owner told me he raced in a 1600 cc class so it had to be 1600 ccs. BUT the guy who owned the dyno shop says thats not so treu!! he knows for sure its +/- 1800 ccs (he helped with tuning) so my upinion is that the previus owner hoped that 168 hp
in a 1600ccs sounds more cool (he had 168 hp with this engine)

sorry for my english
