1500 boxer mod thoughts...

Ok everyone, Time for a head mashing mission - How to get a bit more poke from a 1.5 twincarb using only allocated lunch money that you'd rather starve to get the car warmed up for ...

My thoughts:

A pair of sealed carbs off a Daihatsu (G100 1 Litre) Charade Turbo and a supercharger off a toyota 4AGZE

Would require an upgraded electric fuel pump, an external fuel regulator, a few brackets knocked up & a pulley off the crank to run it, and if you're really keen you could even regraph the distributor, but it does have the advantage of not requiring expensive & complicated exhaust mods for a turbo, and if you used a clutched hub on the s/c, you could probably turn it off for when the wife drives it

Whatcha reckon? Potential for 130-150kw? (i know, a bit optimistiic... )

Oooh. Very bad... Much along the lines of what i'm thinking, except the charade unit uses blow-through carbs, making an intercooler a nice upgrade later

Hi all, new kid on the block here. Finally after Admins help I am able to post.
Re the super charger idea I've been thinking about this for some time. I agree that the 4AGZE blower should be perfect and reasonably available. The existing Dellortos can be blown through if the fuel pressure regulator is linked to the manifold pressure and the correct supercharger emulsion tubes are used. You would also need a dump valve a la turbo setups as on overun with the butterflies closed the "charger is still boosting and the vibration is something else. It's a bit of a toss up between suck through and blow through. Suck through is simpler in many ways, blow through offers the option of an intercooler and using the existing carbs. Without the advantages of an ECU and anti Knock, a modified advance curve for the dizzie would be essential . Oil cooling a big reliability advantage as blown motors generate a lot of heat and your oil does a surprising amount of cooling in an engine.
Regards Eddie

In the end that motor expired due to a leanout when running 22psi of boost.....on reflection its not a good idea to run the whole show with a 2 and a half inch SU....

We are actually we working that motor to run with Delco fuel injection from a Holden JE Camira. The system is being setup with the throttlebody infront of the blower (a nice large VN Commodore one). I still have to knock up a inlet manifold to connect the blower to the ports. Also it has to have blow off points in case of a backfire (the way the old motor died)

The new test motor should be (hopefully) going in my current Alfa Romeo 33 project (it just got repainted!) Hopefully when this is finished there will be no complaints that my Girlfriend (its her car!) can't keep up with my "modded" VL .......

The plan is to build a 1600cc flat4 with a low 8.5:1 static compression ratio (play around with the block deck to get it correct, so we don't have to run a de-compression plate), useing high port 1700 heads from a 1700 Twincarb.

Sorry this one has been a slow project, but now the car is painted I should get some more work done on it..... It would be nice to see some blown Alfa 33's/Suds flying around upsetting the Jap car drivers......

So that's whats gonna happen to my car, hey?
Hopefully this will be my chance to work on the engine and not just the aesthetics of the car (though one could argue that alfa's are more about aesthetics than anything else, it's the italian thing). I do like pretty things, but I'd love to know how to rebuild my engine. I am told soon I will have to rebuild my gearbox (damn lazy boyfriend/mechanic....lol.... jk)
