We made an intake box for our 33 race car though the car runs a relocated radiator that allows us to have the full width air intake (through a filter panel). We also don't run an alternator - that makes things easier too! We made a heavy master and then the component itself from fibreglass.
If anyone can tell me how to post images I'll happily put a photo up!
Hi bs15ti:
I for one would be real interested to see what your air intake looks like and how the rad has been relocated. Maybe we could start a new thread that allow the exchange photos and tech info on Suds, 33 and Sprint that are being used for sprinting, circuit racing and rallying. What do you think?
I'll sort out some photos with the aim of a picture exchange - good idea! Do you know if I have to place photos into an online storage location - photobucket or similar, or can I load them up from hard drive. I have looked in the FAQ but can't find anything to tell me how!

The car is a 1.8 8 valve, built in 1998 from a road car. Approx 185bhp - 89mm pistons, 45 Dellorto's, big valve heads, full race cams, etc. Straight cut gears and LSD. Weighs 720kg. If you want to know more let me know! My father has been preparing and servicing Alfa's for years - he has a website - Alfa Romeo Specialist BLS Automotive

Congratulations,
Cheers.

It's stripped of all interior, kevlar bonnet and tailgate, grp front wings, door skins and bumpers. All glass other than the windscreen has been replaced by lexan. Fabricated front suspension, lightened rear beam, bespoke forward links and panhard rod, lightweight racing calipers, rear disc conversion. 30 litre aluminium fuel tank, all underseal removed (15kgs!!), lightweight rear silencer.... Theres maybe more but you get the general idea!

Cant help but notice the car is mostly a series 3, but has earlier headlights and grille, Any particular reason for this set-up?
Great looking car, must be a load of fun. Any more engine details or is that secret mens business?

Nice looking car, 185BHP and only 720KG must be fun.
Airbox looks very nice, well made and finished.
Does your fathers company still supply parts for tuning boxer engines.
I remember years and years ago reading an article in Fast Car magazine on tuning Boxers and BLS was one of the companies they spoke to.....could not afford the mods back then though

The car is a series 3 but with series 2 headlights and bumpers. The body panels were for a series 3 - at the time there were no series 3 bumpers in lightweight (we didn't fancy doing our own mould) - plus, the 'Intergrale' type arches would mean a mismatch between bumper and wing. So, we stuck with a series 3/series 3 hybrid. The bonnet is a series 3 in kevlar that we found secondhand in Italy so it would have been rude not to use it!
The rear axle modifications are modified spring platforms - i.e modified to suit coilover damper assemblies (Bilstein competition), modified panhard rod mounting (lowered and with rod end) and adding Sud disc assemblies (lightened) in lieu of the 33 drums.
BLS still prepare cars for competition - mine and a 400bhp Alfa 75 1.8 turbo. The demand for Sud parts in the UK dropped off many years ago - mainly our climate and rust, etc. As a result, virtually no stock is held anymore as it could sit on the shelf for ages! Before I found this site I sold off several sets of carbs (45's and 48's), a baffled sump, set of forged pistons, etc - all used -on E-Bay. I'll post stuff on here first in future.
I'll post a spec of the car in the competition car info thread on here (under the boxer engines heading).
Regards,
Bryan.

Nice 33! I have also morphed my series 3 in to a series 2. I've currently got an 1.7 8v 40 Dellorto engine in my series 3. I'm gonna fit series 2 bumpers and door handles soon.
With regards to weight. My 33 is a road car. Any recommendations on reducing the weight as much as possible without removing the interior?
