carburator airhorns

hi all, just for information, does the elbows ontop the carbs of the dueal carbed boxers found on 33's work also as airhorns?

That go off when you push the button on the steering wheel? or as trumpets?

I guess so. I'm using it as such with slight porting to increase flare. There also the theory of the air travel being slower with the additional angle as compared to straight up v.stack which air travels in an "L" shape rather than "U".

They do work as air horns, they increase the length of the intake runners and hence increase torque. Many people here on the BB have experimented with aftermarket airhorns and have usually come to the conclusion that they lost some torque. Thats what we noticed on a Sud too.

well when i tried mine with the Lbows only it lost some reasonable torque :S. but there was some change in accelleration to the better, but going uphill onetime the car was loosing revs.

Ok, if i decide to put a set of trumpets on my carbs, 1st of all what effect would they have exept of the sound, and what is the difference between velocity stacks of different lenght?
