Sachs vs Valeo : What's the better clutch?

I've got a plethora of clutches in my shed now.. Most of them are sachs..

But every so often I come across a valeo clutch and just giving them the eye-ball test the pressure plates seem to be alot more "hardcore" for want of a better word.

But because I normally have a valeo pressure plate with a half good clutch plate, I put a new sachs clutch behind a valeo plate...

But this time I've had the option of using a new valeo plate and clutch or a new sachs plate and clutch... I opted for the whole valeo unit..

What is everybody elses opinion on clutches?

Also is there -other- brand clutches that people use?

lenus.

We put a 1.7 sachs pressure plate and clutch in our race sprint, It should be pushing 140hp so were about to find out.....
The sachs actually looked better than the valeo IMO (Apart from the thrust bearing which was rubbish) that means very little I suppose.
Ive heard good and bad about both.

Yeah.. To me the actual clutch plates look identical, and I've been told valeo sources the plates from sachs anyway, but the valeo pressure plate where those spline things come out look alot better to me..

They are alot fatter and from what I've seen, are generally less prone to the wear that those sachs ones get from where the thrust bearing wears on it.

I didn't actually think there was any difference between the plates though for 1.7 8v/16v /1.5's.

I thought they were all the same part number... Never the less, I've chopped and changed clutches on my 16v and I haven't really had problems with slipping at all...

I'm more interested in alternatives.

Somebody told me that excedy does a sports tuff clutch for alfa's on order... Though I never followed it up..
