Heater Tap

Anyone ever fitted a heater tap to the heater hose on a sud/sprint/33?

I'm doing a bit of a revision to my heater box, but would like to stop the water flow to the heater core in order to shut the heat off.

I can get a universal 16mm tap which will fit, but it's just a tap (shuts the flow off completely to the heater) rather than a diverter to bypass the heater core and i'm concerned that the lack of flow around that area will do damage.

Anyone got any experience here?

some 33's came with a tap on the inlet heater line so it could be shut off, Putting one in won't cause any issues as it is just a small water circuit. The engine has its own much larger water circuit that the heater lines just branch off from.

Righto. I'll continue my experiment then OOoohh the novel idea of a properly working air/c & heater system in a 33 - Who would have thought!

Thought i might as well ask to be sure that I didn't wreck anything (the small heater bypass hose to the overflow tank will get the job done I guess)
