Windscreen replacement...

Hi all.

I have just been offered a new windscreen for my 'Sud, this is the sellers description:

Quote:
Alfa SUD, 977 grøn - 730,-
Quote:
det er ågang 77-79, model med pynteliste.
- And for those who don't understand Danish: "Alfasud 977 green, 730 DKR (£ 67)" and "It's for a 77-79 model with trim."

Now, my thoughts:

I "really" need a new windscreen (well, sort of), as the one I have now is with the black rubber lists and (a bit) stonechipped. However, this must be one of the aftermarket ones which Enri mentions in this thread, right?

However, I would like to maintain the originality of my 'Sud, so I was wondering if it's worth the bother, if the trim is bigger than the original (as Enri a.o. point out in the above thread, and the windscreen will have an incorrect tint. Or are windscreens for 'Suds so expensive that this is too good an offer to pass? And, if the trim is "correct" would it be possible to lift the current 'screen and adopt the trim, without having to replace the glass???

Help sorely needed.

your series one car should have the clear glass screen, glued in, with the wide chrome trim held on by clips.

later series ones had clear glass screen, with a rubber mould , with narrow chrome trim

the green screen you are being offered is for a seris 2, (which was fitted with a rubber mould with no chrome)

i dont think the screen size ever changed, only the tint colour and method/style of fitting

Thanks Enri, knew I could rely on you for help

The seller now says that there isn't trim with the window, which corresponds nicely with the information you gave. Could you tell me how wide "wide" is?

i dont have any early series 1 trim left to measure ,but it is the flat type thats held on with clips, and from memory is about 5mm wider than the later series 1 "T" shaped 15.5mm wide type held in with the rubber mould.

euro sedan specs may be different
