Sud Rear Sticker problem

I was helping a friend to wet sand his TI Sud coupe prior to painting. We got to the rear panel above the rear window, just before it meets the roof and noticed the trim sticker that a lot of suds have there. Its all faded, but we werent sure if it is covering something up, or sits on a straight panel underneath. If we paint over it, it will look hideous, if we peel it off, where can we get another one?

Cheers!

I used to make replica's of the sticker for the ti models some years ago. I used a 3M system using UV sensitve decal material. I may well still have the original artwork in which case I could probably supply some if you are interested. I do not think the materials are too expensive especially if others were interested. They were very good copies the only difference being they did not have the 'linen' texture to them although I believe I could produce this now.

are you guys talking about the sticker that sits on the "C" pillar? If you are I am looking for a set for my restoration project and I cant find anything anywhere!!
I would also be VERY interested in a set aswell.

Im not sure about the early series 1 cars (my series one had the indentation filled with bog and smoothed out, no stickers/badges), but under the badge/sticker is an indentation where the roof joins the rear quarter panel that (on the later cars with the metal badge) is filled with rubber.

For my car I used lead to fill in the indentation (much nicer than plastic filler, also its quite deep and lead is better for that kind of thickness) and painted it over and now am searching for a set of stickers to make my car look authentic!!

Looks like we are all on the same track, hopefully we can get these stickers up and running.....my friends Ti is so original, everything in it and on it, I cant believe it. He has even got the original emission control unit on it, (soon to be binned) and all manuals, receipts etc. Planned improvements include Momo wheels, tints and upgraded suspension. Black is the colour of choice for respray at present.

If its so original, I would do it an original colour, or close too. My Ti was originally a grass green colour, and somewhere in its past ownership was reprayed a red (not actually an alfa colour) but I intended to keep it red, so I went for Rosso Alfa 555, which is an Alfa 75 red, its kind of orange looking which I think suits the car well. I tried the original sud red, but somehow I didnt like it.

Just a word of warning about black - this is an italian car, and a sud at that so the panels arent the best to begin with and black will show up all imperfections really well, so if you dont want to spend ages on prep work I would steer clear of black - having said that it would look nice.

anyway, a bit off topic - hope we can get those stickers cranking aswell!!

The C-pillar stickers where introduced in '76. First models who had them where the '5M', the 'TI' andd the 'N' .All these models use their own design. Left and right are shaped differently to fit good.

Prior to this the welding of the rear panel that is beneath it (filled with lead) was made straight so once painted it was not visible. It is impossible to get the stickers of the car without damaging them.

It is also almost impossible to find these stickers nowadays. I have the original drawings for them but have not yet found the right 3M material to reproduce them.

Hi, I am restoring Alfasud Super 1286 cc 1978 and would be interested in this part. I have one NOS "Super" roof sticker as a sample/pattern and would be very pleased to get a full set made up. Please let me know if you are going ahead. I am happy to contribute fairly to the cost. Many thanks + Regards, David Samuelson.

I too would be only too happy to put money towards these stickers aswell.

Not only that but Im sure these could be sold around the world. There seems to be a huge following of Suds over in Germany for example. If you could sell these stickers on international ebay so the Germans can find them when they do a search, you could sell many sets!

its such a good idea, I wonder if the texture can be reproduced with the latest 3M gear?

Josh.
