Question 33 16v air flow meter

Hi guys. Anyone in Aust have an airfllow meter for a 33 16v to sell? Also I hear that a 75 ts will fir and is probably a little better as it is less restictive. Is this the case. Anyways my little 16v wont rev past 4000-5000 rpm and its furl consumption is horrible. Mechanic says it wont respond to any adjustments and is running full rich. Have had the computer out and checked...ok. Have replaced the cat (which was collapsed) and this did help the car run better, but still it wont rev. My next line if enquiry is the AFM and the lambda sensor. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.
Brenten

new afm fitted

Hi. Thanks for the contact. I just purchased one ($200)...from a 75 ts, and yes it does fit and the car goes substantially better...BUT it still isnt hungry for revs like I know these motors are. It shows 5500 and just wont go any further. I am going to check the tacho, fit a new air cleaner, and then I dont know. I have had the computer checked (fine), and replaced the cat. Any ideas??

you should check for the lambda probe, fuel pressure regulator and fuel pump, and probably a fuel injector clean

check the fuel press first and if the lambda probre is not making adjustments change it, fuel press should be no more than 3.2bar and no less than 2.5 bar

valuable advice

Thankyou. I suspected the lambda probe, but was given advice to the contrary. The other recommendations I will definitely check as well. A process of elimination. Helps a lot when more of these variables are known. Hopefully i will have a little boxer that gives me it's top end soon, instead of relying on only its torquey flexibility.

I had a faulty lambda probe on my 33 before, it gave rough idling and transition to full throttle, also had a bad fuel press regulator, wich caused rich running (too much pressure) now if you don't have top end power it seems like you don't get enough fuel at those rpm's, might be a couple of things, low fuel press (faulty fuel press regulator, clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump, the pump usually makes a lot of noise when it's about to go, it's behind the left rear wheel), or the other thing might be dirty fuel injectors.
As far as the probe goes, when you plug in the diagnostic computer (pretty much any fuel injection place has one) you should see the lambda value move around, that means it's correcting and therefore working.

Good luck!
