Boxer engine bottom end

Hi Guys,

I built a 1.7 8v carb engine using 16v dished pistons which gave me 10.4:1 CR.

The pistons and bottom end were completely stock. We used C&B Road Max cams.

A head gasket has blown and we are looking at taking it further with the heads; AH Motorsport big valve race pack, gas flowing and porting as well as possibly 44 IDF's.

Using stock pistons and bottom end, would we get any kind of longevity out of the engine if we didn't go above say 7k RPM?

Many thanks.

I blew one engine by doing that. Yes with C&B max road.
The temp just climbs ridiculusly high and unsolvable detonation. Some smart Alec might tell you it's good idea and I suggest that you ask for their experience in doing so before you actually trust them. CR's are not as straight forward as the calculations. You'd probably have to remove combustion chamber volume in the end.

The C&B cams you have are afterall intended for standard compression. Max you can do is deck the block a little. Good luck.
