modified brakes and wheels
Ok,
Have started to modify brakes on front of my 33 series one. Will be running 15 inch wheels to clear new calipers.
My problem is: the centre of the new wheels are thinner than the old ones, so the bolts that hold the wheel on bottom out before they tighten wheel to hub.
Has anyone ever converted one of these to run wheel studs and nuts instead of the bolts?
Thanks in advance
Kack

yes i have, you can get kits where the studs screw into the hub with locktite so they dont come out when you undo the nuts, mine cost around $160 nz which included new nuts.
What are you running for brakes out of interest?
Cheers
Richard

Im trying out a combination that has been posted here by markp. It uses VN-VP commodore v8 calipers with mitsubishi magna V6 rotors re drilled to suit 4*98 stud pattern. All pretty much bolts straight up. Needed custom brake hoses and to machine a bit of the heat sinc of the back of the caliper to clear my wheels.
Simple but good

Alfa sprinter,
where did you get the studs from? are they custom made or are they a particular brand?
Cheers

You could use shorter bolts from a Fiat instead those long from alfaromeo.

Hi Greek,
Would like to use the studs to make changing wheels a bit quicker and easier at the track

Ok then , you can use studs as they mentioned above. One of my friends did that conversion in his 16v 33 because he wanted to use 17'' rims.

i got the longest ones i could think they are 70mm overall, i run 15x7 37 offset oz wheels with 12mm spacers and the nuts have 10 turns on them studs just stick out the ends of the studs, i used the same on the back but they dont need to be that long at all since they dont go through a rotor or anything

Hi Kack:
Your system doesn't seem to accept PM, something about being locked out. Anyhow I think you are asking about Spring ride height adjusters, similar to the ones in the attached pic.
They can be purchased from Eurospeed Motorsport, 07 3865 5266 or email sales@eruospeed.com.au , ask for Geoff. I think they have two different sizes. 51mm ID & 49mm ID
Let me know if this doesn't work and good luck.
Regards....Bob
