Exhaust header length for 1700

Is the best header length the same for a 1500 and a 1700?

I have a measurement for the 1500 but may need to build an exhaust for a 1700.

We're fitting a 1700 into my son's alfasud but keeping the original gearbox and inboard brakes so the 1700 pipes won't fit and the old 1500 single carb pipes are a bit tiny.

Have you tried the 1700 exhaust?

I had a 1.7 8v in my sud and used the pipes from it and it fit fine.. The only thing is that the heat sheilds were removed. But they cleared the brakes no prob.

Thanks for this, I laid the 1700 exhaust over the sud one and it didn't look like it would fit - the old sud exhaust has quite a distinct shape to avoid the brake discs. However, based on your experience, we won't abandon this option yet.
