Question Workshop Manual for 33 QV..?

Can anyone tell me where I can get a workshop manual for a 1990 1.7QV 33, 8 valve? I've managed to get a bit of info on disc but it's pretty hard to get much from it - took me the first day just to sort out what model related to which engine etc..! It seems that NO-ONE in NZ has a hard copy. I actually want to do the timing with a strobe-light, and the valve clerances. Perhaps someone has enough info to send me on these two things...I'd be very grateful (so would my son whose car it is!) Cheers

There is no readily available workshop manual for 33`s. most of the relevant information is available in the easily procured Haynes Alfasud/Sprint manual however. Ignition timing for that model 33 is 8 degrees before TDC which is the second mark on the flywheel( viewed after removing the white plastic disc to the driver`s side of distributor) I set at 900rpm after removing vacuum tube attached to distributor`s vacuum advance. You will need a 10mm spanner to loosen distributor. That model 33 should have hydraulic tappets and cam boxes that prevent you accessing cams and buckets without major dismantling. If it is clicking try one of the products formulated to free sticky hydraulic tappets then do an oil change with some decent quality oil (20w/50 grade). Whereabouts in NZ are you?

Thumbs up 33 1.7QV - Thanks!

Thanks guys for all the replies to my question about workshop manuals. Sorry about the delay - been over to Oz for a break. Chris we live in Chch too. The car belongs to my 18yr old son and he loves it - it's his first car. Hasn't had that good a run as yet- found the belts needed to be done and then it wouldn start. Found someone had joined a radiator hose to a carb, and there was antifreeze in the float-bowl...(probably me fiddling). Replaced the exhaust from the headers back and it now exits in a twin (square) pipe. Just need to get a good tune up now. Cheers!
