Hi,

I will be confronted with the same problem soon.
My 79 Sud Giardinetta needs to have A/C installed.

Maybe this company will be able to supply the proper a/c unit:

You could try a standard setup off a Alfa 33, Most Alfa 33's in Australia came with aircon standard....then again nearly all the Serries 2 cars, and all of the serries 3 cars had 1700 motors....

You need the compressor, and brackets, both of the A/C radiators (one in each guard) reciever/dryer, purge cansiter, and modifed heaterbox. Also a/c high pressure lines need to be run along with all the required electronics.

I recomend for your Sud you use the heater box of a 1.7IE serries 2 Alfa 33. The boxes off the earlier twincarb serries 2's and serries 1's sit the a/c condensor under the dash.....which causes the dash to collapse The 1.7IE ones sit the condensor in the service compartment next to the battery. Much better idea!

However I have seen a factory a/c setup for a Serries 3 Alfa Sud, its the same as a Alfa 33 setup, 'cept it uses one big a/c radiator, and the condensor takes up the room where the passenger puts his feet......(well close enough!)

A company called 'Kirby' made many of the aftermarkket air/c setups for the 33. Mine has one of these, and though it's got bubbles, it still cools reasonably well. Only problem is it makes the car run hotter
